The Equinox All Star Band
The Equinox All Star Band was put together by Steve Barkman for the Pukehiki Hoedown / Ceilidh 2016.
It consists of many well-known musicians around Dunedin and other parts of the South Island. They are much the same band that played at the Cardrona 150th Anniversary Ceilidh in Wanaka Convention Centre, 2014 (apart from the late Marcus Turner).
- Caller: Vic McDonald (Ex 'Lost in the Bush' & 'Shiner')
- Guitar: Steve Barkman (Ex 'Shiner' & many other bands)
- Mandolin/Banjo: Adrian Higgins (Ex 'Shiner' & 'Plucking Pheasants')
- Accordion: Barrie McDonald (aka Finbar)
- Dobro/Guitar/Mandolin: Read Hudson (Toured with Bevan Gardener in the John Denver Tribute Band)
- Bass: Chris Hudson (Original Dunedin band 'Hudson')
- Drums: Steve Hudson (Original Dunedin band 'Hudson')
The 2016 Pukehiki Hoedown was held on 24th September – the Spring Equinox in Dunedin fell on 23rd September.
The band had therefore taken on the name of the 'Equinox All Star Band'.
